Gwyneth Hulse Design is a boutique woodwork business in Kerikeri. Their products are simple, modern and natural. They take beautiful New Zealand timbers and hand work them into stunningly crafted pieces.
Their designs are based on the modernist principles of simplicity, geometry and the celebration of natural materials. Due to the uniqueness of each piece of wood and the handmade process, no two objects are quite alike.
Working with the environment is a very important core value for Gwyneth Hulse Design. Working with such a precious medium carries an ethical responsibility to act in a sustainable manner. They wish to have a positive impact on others and the planet, by offering beautifully handmade alternatives to mass-produced products which people can value and care for.
These cord and Rewarewa wood necklaces are a good example of simple materials fashioned into a stunning piece.
The handmade beads are offset with a woven rope. Rewarewa—also called New Zealand Honeysuckle—has an attractive speckled appearance and is a hard wearing wood.
The long necklaces come in a classic black and white combination, striking black and wood and blues - cobalt and turquoise.
While the short necklaces with large wooden beads come in black and khaki. They do up with a magnet within a wooden clasp.
All these necklaces are easy to wear, are fairly light and look stunning on.
